Safer Internet Day 2026

We marked Safer Internet Day, which is recognised in over 170 countries worldwide. We held an assembly in which we asked the children to think about AI, and how it can be used safely and responsibly. Some children have watched a BBC live lesson, and Year 6 had a visit from the police who helped them understand their responsibility for their online profile. Others have thought about smart speakers and their designs.

Online Safety is taught all year round, but we always use Safer Internet Day as a springboard for discussion. This year’s theme fits well with our school value of Responsibility and it was great to hear children talk about how AI can be used safely, creatively and educationally.
