A week without water

Due to the water issues affecting the Pembury Water Treatment Works, the school and many parts of Tunbridge Wells have been without water this week. This meant that we could not open the school for lessons and we have had to be a little more creative in our learning this week.

Teachers have sent out home learning and we have been really pleased with the effort that has been made to complete tasks. Lots of fun tasks have been sent as well. The quizzes went down very well with the children, with green cards awarded to the winners. Today, Friday 5th December, the staff were treated to a quiz written by George in year 6. He’s got a lot of quizzes to mark on Monday when he returns!

To keep in contact with everyone, we have opened the school for different sessions. Wednesday afternoon saw lots of families come up to school for a chat and a chance to collect paper, pencils, books and a pack of learning. On Thursday, we had a great time at a Christmas singalong and today, we organised reading of stories to groups of children and their parents.

We appreciate that it has been very tough for our families this week. It’s not easy juggling childcare, home learning, work all without running water in your homes. We are looking forward to returning on Monday.
