A very warm welcome to our school. St Matthew’s Primary School is a vibrant and diverse learning community where every child is cherished. We are a very happy school where we aim to bring the best out in each individual by catering at an outstanding level both in the academic curriculum and in areas such as sports, music, arts and outdoor activities. There really is something for everyone to show they can excel!
Our recent SIAMS report (2016), in which we were levelled as “outstanding” , really praised the School for it’s teamwork in producing a truly caring environment which enables children to thrive. The aim is to give children all the life skills they need to be successful – these include skills such as confidence, sociability, perseverance and taking responsibility. It is wonderful to see children blossom and enjoy learning with such enthusiasm.
Our latest Ofsted inspection made the following observations:
- Teaching is good overall and some is outstanding.
- Leaders have improved teaching and pupils’ achievement at a phenomenal rate.
- Pupils are enthusiastic and apply themselves well.
- The behaviour of pupils is good……and sometimes outstanding.
- The achievement of pupils is good.
- The achievement of the most able pupils is good.
The curriculum has been redesigned, placing key skills and a love of learning at the core. Teaching takes place within an imaginative and creative curriculum, where children find learning exciting and irresistible. We have high aspirations for all of our families as the school now strives towards becoming “Outstanding” and we aim to give every child opportunities to achieve their very best.
